Here are some iPhone iOS 15 tips and tricks

On its American YouTube channel Apple Support, Apple recently published a short video showing ten functions available on the iPhone and iOS 15 that you may have missed. The video is in English but with pictures it is easy to understand how to do each trick.

To make it even easier, we will give you a summary of each tip in French. It also reminds us that the iPhone is full of functions and settings to simplify our daily use as much as possible, although it should be noted that we are not far from exploiting its full capabilities.

10 helpful but well-known tips according to Apple:

  1. If you did not type in the correct number in the Calculator app, you can slide your finger left, right or up from the number to delete only one. It is very useful if you do not want to restart counting from scratch just because of typing
  2. With iOS 15, it is possible to pin content as a Twitter link in a messaging app chat. With any content, you can find it in the “Shared” section throughout the iPhone but also in the “Pin” section when you click on your profile picture profile. It is easy to find quickly.
  3. By long pressing on the home screen to find the interface to change the location of the applications (when the icons are moving) you can select a widget and drag it to another to create a stack.
  4. Long press on the image and move your finger elsewhere on the screen without releasing it. When done, click the other images with your second hand and they will be grouped as a list. Then log in to the app where you want to release / send them and release the screen. It also works with other elements such as the Safari link for example. 5. Once you have done Settings> Keyboard> Replacement sequence, you end up with a interface that allows you to define what the keyboard will type in a particular word. Directly, press + at the top right, in the Expression box enter the last word, the one you want to type and in Shortcut, type the word to change. For example, I add “jsui la” in the Shortcut and “I’m here” in the Expression. So, wherever my iPhone is, when I write ‘I’m here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/welcome/ios
  6. the iPhone will automatically switch to ‘I’m here’. This is naturally well known but let us remember it equally. When your iPhone is locked, you can swipe left on the lock screen to unlock the camera. Simple and effective.
  7. This function is very useful but with very little emphasis on the interface. In the Notes app, if you have one of your notes, tap the camera logo and click “Scan documents“. The camera opens with a special mode where you have to disassemble your document to magically convert it to PDF.
  8. This button is only available on the iPhone XS or the latest model without forgetting iOS 15. By pressing it, you can directly copy the text you are pointing to with your iPhone camera. Live text also works in your photo library.
  9. If you are a fan of making albums but some contain hundreds or thousands of photos, know that you can go back to your top with just one tap on the screen below the notch.
  10. The last tip is just a reminder that you can, with the home screen (and even locked from iOS 15), slide your finger under the screen to open an Apple-type search engine called Spotlight. In the Search box, type whatever you want and it will suggest anything related to your iPhone or Safari.
