Record iPhone XR screen when using Mac computer, PC

In addition to the OEM iOS utility, you can record video from the smartphone screen using the QuickTime Player program. To do this, you’ll need:

  • Mac running OS X 10.10 Yosemite or higher
  • Any mobile device with iOS 8 or higher;
  • Included Lightning cable.

In addition, you must allow QuickTime Player to access the webcam (only applicable to macOS 10.14 Mojave). If access to the camera is denied, you won’t be able to select the iPhone as the source.

To start recording using your Mac, follow these steps:

  • Connect your device to your computer and start QuickTime Player;
  • Right-click on the player icon in the Dock;
  • Select the “New video recording” option. A window with a web camera should appear on the screen;
  • Click on the arrow next to the red record key and select iPhone as the source;
  • Press the red record key to start capturing the image. Press the key again to stop recording and save the video file.
