Based on Android 12, One UI 4.0 brings even more personal, safe and convenient feel to your device. Includes a completely redesigned visual interface for you, new privacy features designed for your safety and control, and seamless ways to get to your game play or switch to a new device.

Personalization: Starting with Android 12 on Pixel devices, you’ll be able to customize your phone with a custom color palette and redesigned widgets. Using what we call color rendering, backup, you select your background image and the system automatically determines which colors are prominent, which ones are compatible and which ones look good. Then apply those colors throughout the OS: notification shade, lock screen, volume controls, new widgets and much more.

Liquid movement & animation: From the moment you pick up your Android 12 device, you’ll feel how it lives with every tap, swipe and scroll. Your phone responds quickly to your touch with smooth movements and animation.

We have also made collaboration easier and redesigned the entire basic system to make your information easier and more efficient. Your Android devices are now faster and more responsive with energy efficiency so you can use your device longer without charge.

This is achieved by some upgrades under the hood which include reducing the required CPU time for basic system services by up to 22% and reducing the use of large cores by the system server by up to 15%.

Redesigned system spaces: Some of the most important spaces in your phone – like notification shade, quick settings and even the power button – have also been deliberately thought to help make things happen.

Alert shadow is accurate and playful, with a clear view, just a look at your app notifications, whatever you are currently listening to or watching, as well as quick settings that allow you to control almost the entire operating system with a swipe and tap.

The Quick Settings space does not look and feel different. Redesigned to incorporate Google Pay and Home controls, while still allowing customization to get everything you need in one easy-to-reach place.

To make sure you always have the help of Google in your hands, you can now long press the power button to ask Assistant to make a phone call, open apps, ask questions or read aloud heavy articles.

Privately and securely designed: Android 12 incorporates new features that give you more light on which apps access your data, as well as additional security controls to make an informed choice about how much confidential information your apps can access.

The new Privacy Dashboard provides a single look at your permissions settings and what data is accessed, how often and which applications. It also allows you to easily revoke app permissions from the dashboard.

Add a new indicator at the top right of your status bar to let you know when your apps are accessing your microphone or camera. And if you want to remove app access to these sensors for the entire system, add two new toggles to Quick Settings.

We also give you more control over how much information you share with apps. With new limited location permissions, applications can be limited to seeing your approximate location instead of the exact location. For example, weather apps do not require your precise location to provide accurate weather forecasts.
