Apple releases macOS 12.2 with Safari security patch, improved ProMotion scrolling
Apple has released macOS Monterey 12.2, build number 21D49. It is only the second major macOS Monterey update and comes almost two months after the release of macOS 12.1, which added SharePlay and Apple Music Voice Plan!
MacOS 12.2 is starting to appear to users via OTA. Go to System Preferences> Software updates to check if they are available on your Mac. Apple has also released a new update for those still in Big Sur with macOS 11.6.3.
Although it does not come with many modifications, macOS 12.2 includes Safari bug fix security and a few other upgrades and fixes.
Safari Exploit was discovered for the first time earlier this month which could result in a history of browsing users and Google account IDs. This was first investigated by Apple on iOS 15.3 and macOS 12.2 RC with today’s official release.
MacOS 12.2 comes with bug fixes and security updates. No new features are mentioned in the release notes. 1.94 GB update available online.

Another update with macOS 12.2 enhances scrolling in Safari with ProMotion on the new MacBook Pro. Also seen from the first beta of macOS 12.2, there is the new, traditional Apple Music app. As we noted earlier:
- Open System Preferences.
- Click on Update Software.
- Go For Updates Now.
Agree to Apple’s terms and be patient until macOS 12.2 is downloaded to your Mac.

The update for macOS Monterey 12.2 can be downloaded to all eligible Macs using the System Preferences Update Software section. Apple also released the macOS Big Sur 11.6.3 version for macOS Big Sur and MacOS Catalina Security Update 2022-001 for those in Catalina.
