DURING the launch of a number of single Apple subscriptions, it caused even the most ardent Spotify fan to consider the suitability of switching music streaming services. But since then, there have not been many reasons to attract Spotify to Apple Music or Apple Music to Spotify. The discounted Voice Plan, when you only use Siri to name your favorite songs, seems far from masterstroke (just try asking it to play John Foxx’s “Metamatic”).
But now we have Rogangate. A chorus of ban on broadcast apps saw artists including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell demand that their music be removed from Spotify to Apple Music in protest of the content of Joe Rogan’s podcast. Young said Spotify has become “the home of Covid’s false information” and that the forum could be “Rogan or Young. Not both.”
Apple Music worked quickly during the schadenfreude era, enhancing Neil Young’s music with app notifications, and created community playlists such as “We love Neil” and “We love Joni Too”.
Spotify’s response was not to dismiss Rogan, but to say that he was “sorry” for Neil Young’s decision. Rogan shared a video on Instagram. The program manager apologized to Spotify and said, “I will do my best to try to balance these conflicting ideas with other people’s opinions so that we can probably get a better idea.”
Whether this whole saga has made Apple Music more attractive or you intend to abandon Spotify to Apple Music, making a switcheroo while keeping all of your carefully selected playlists is very easy.
My favorite solution is SongShift – a tool I have used for many years with minor issues. Allows you to move your playlists back and forth between a series of popular streaming platforms — for free.

Download SongShift
First, you will want to download SongShift from the App Store. Once you’ve found it, it’s as simple as selecting supported music resources that you want to transfer or return, and log in to each one via SongShift.
Transfer your Spotify playlist
In this case, you will want to sign in to Spotify to Apple Music with the SongShift app itself.
Once you have logged in once, click Setup Source and select the playlist you would like to transfer from Spotify. Next, select Setup Destination and select Apple Music. Then just click Done, and the transfer of your precious playlist will begin.
Update Your Transfer
Now you can review the SongShift function to check that everything is in order. Select Ready for Review and browse for all similar applications. If there is an error, choose a problem match, which you can also combine by searching for the right song. Click Verify Same when you’re done, and SongShift will create a new playlist in your destination.
That’s all. You have been changed. In the case of closed species, it is simply amazing that there is still a quick fix — so use it while you still have it.
Switching From Apple Music to Spotify
You can also send your latest playlists back the other way — from Apple Music to Spotify to Apple Music — in case you change your mind. You may decide to do that if you are a reluctant Apple Music user who has jumped into iOS to take advantage of things like offline listening on your Apple Watch. Spotify recently announced that it is adding this feature, including the Wear OS for Android smartwatches, to consider another action.
To change your playlist from Apple Music to Spotify, just follow the steps above with the streaming music streaming services to get the results you want. It’s as quick and easy as backtracking.
Other options in SongShift
While SongShift is our top choice, it may not be suitable for everyone when it comes to changing broadcasters.
