Amazon Fire TV devices jailbreak 2021 patched have acquired a new feature called Alexa Shortcut Panel. When you tap the microphone / Alexa button on your remote, the shortcut panel appears at the bottom of the screen with buttons that provide access to the Smart, recently refurbished Home Dashboard, Weather, Your Video Library, and News, which launches the Fire TV News app.
Alexa Shortcut Panel arrives on Fire TV
Like a quick access screen shortcut, introduced by holding the Home button, the Alexa shortcut panel can be displayed no matter what you do on your Fire TV. Whether you’re in the app, browsing the Fire TV interface, or in the Fire TV settings, a quick tap and release of the microphone button will cause the panel to appear on top of any screen you’re watching at the moment.

As mentioned, selecting the Smart Home shortcut will instantly load the Smart Home Dashboard, giving you access to and control of your smart lights, plugs, and security cameras. Weather Shortcut will bring the standard Alexa preview of any location you have set to your Fire TV options under Settings> Preferences> Location. Weather is the only shortcut that doesn’t take you away from any Fire TV screen or instant watching app.
Selecting the Library shortcut will load the Library section of your Fire TV, which you normally have access to in the Discover tab on the Fire TV navigation menu. This is where you will see your Watch List, Purchases, Rentals, and DVR content if you own Fire TV Recast. Finally, the News Shortcut will simply download the Amazon News app which will be pre-installed on all Fre TV devices.

While it’s nice to see more functionality like this added to the Fire TV and microphone button, I can’t help but be a little disappointed with the lack of any kind of customization options. The four shortcuts and their functions are fixed and cannot be changed. You probably have a lot of shortcuts to choose from, but, at least, it would be nice to choose which Shortcut app opens. As it happens now, Shortcut News looks like another way to advertise Amazon services.

The Alexa shortcut panel is currently starting to pop out of Fire TV devices, so there’s a good chance it won’t be available on your device. Amazon says it will be “widely available on Fire TV devices in the United States” so it looks like many Fire TV models will find a new feature. It is expected to be widely distributed by the end of the month.
